This endorsement assesses a candidate’s knowledge, skill, and ability to conduct welder performance qualification tests. CWIs and SCWIs seeking the Welder Performance Qualifier endorsement shall pass an open-book examination.
To prepare for the endorsement exam, candidates are encouraged to attend an online AWS seminar or perform self-study to become familiar with the Welder Performance Qualifier subject matter. Candidates must correctly answer at least 70% of the exam questions in order to receive this endorsement.
Seminar Information
The Welder Performance Qualifier Endorsement Seminar is a guided walk-through of best practices for performing a welder qualification test.
This online, instructor-led seminar offers an in-depth review of Qualifier responsibilities, requirements for test facilities, equipment, and materials, and how to prepare Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQRs) and other integral documents. The seminar concludes with a full-length practice exam and a detailed, instructor-led review of each question and answer in order to better prepare attendees for test day.

CWI’s, SCWI’s and Recertification
For existing CWIs and SCWIs, successful completion of this endorsement can satisfy the re-examination requirements for 9-year recertification, provided that the endorsement is earned during the immediate 9-year period.
