General Instructor Qualifications

  • Ten years of experience in the engineering field or academia
  • One year (or equivalent) experience teaching adults
  • Ability to develop a course of high quality and value
  • Ability to use a variety of training aids and instructional methods and to function in an applications-oriented, adult learning environment
  • Willingness to accept guidance, feedback and coaching from an AWS program developer and adhere to established guidelines and requirements
  • Ability to relate subject matter to participant work experience
  • AWS Membership preferred, but not required

Training Types

AWS Education and Training is currently accepting proposals for:

  • Live, in-class training
  • Live, web-based training

In-class training are typically 1-3-day courses at locations throughout the country, while online training is delivered from your PC or mobile device in sessions of up to two hours.

AWS Education and Training is always seeking experienced professionals with industry / academic backgrounds to both propose and instruct seminars.

AWS contracts with instructors to teach seminars on current, applications-oriented subjects, ranging from fundamental to advanced in complexity. Instructors are responsible for:

  • Course outline development
  • Class notes
  • Activities
  • Practice questions
  • Case studies
  • Presentation slides and materials
  • instruction of the material on mutually agreeable dates.

Proposals are evaluated and approved for inclusion in our annual seminar schedule. All AWS seminars are subject to peer review by AWS selected subject matter experts (SMEs). If the reviewers have suggestions for a course, an AWS instructional designer will work with the instructor to incorporate those recommendations.

  • AWS handles all course administration: scheduling, promotion and advertising, registration, and post-course evaluations.
  • AWS instructors are paid a daily fee during their seminar. Travel expenses are also reimbursed by AWS.
  • The instructor is responsible for developing all support materials and obtaining permission to reprint copyrighted material. AWS will then handle fulfillment and delivery to the seminar site.

AWS Professional Development is always seeking experienced engineering professionals with industry / academic backgrounds to propose and instruct web seminars.

AWS contracts with instructors to present web seminars on current, applications-oriented subjects, and fundamental and advanced process theory courses. The instructors are responsible for the course outline development; class notes including activities, practice sets, and case studies; presentation aides and materials; and instruction of the material on mutually agreeable dates.

All AWS web seminars are subject to peer review by AWS selected subject matter experts (SMEs). If the reviewers have suggestions for a course, an AWS instructional designer will work with the instructor to incorporate those recommendations.

Other important points include:

  • AWS handles all course administration: scheduling, marketing, registration, and evaluations.
  • AWS Web Seminars are delivered using a web conferencing tool on a mutually agreeable schedule.
  • AWS instructors are paid a fee for webinar delivery.
  • AWS will provide an orientation on how to use the selected web conferencing tool.
  • No travel is required. The instructor participates from their home/office equipped with a PC and dedicated internet connection.
  • The instructor is responsible for developing all support materials and obtaining permission to reprint copyrighted material. AWS will then make the materials accessible to participants.
