Welding Procedure Qualifier

By code requirement, a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) must be properly qualified and accepted by a relevant engineering authority. CWIs or SCWIs who hold the Welding Procedure Qualifier Endorsement have demonstrated that, with appropriate engineering oversight, they are able to qualify WPSs.

Before sitting for the endorsement exam, candidates are encouraged to refresh their memories on some of the finer points on qualifying WPSs.

Seminar Information

Seminar consists of 16 hours of instruction provided either in-person or online and teach participants how to:

  • Assess project requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of process variables and relevant documents
  • Evaluate mechanical and nondestructive testing for procedure qualification purposes
  • Prepare a PQR
  • Establish ranges for prequalified WPSs
  • List ranges for WPS qualified by testing
