Mr. Shane Findlan is the Consulting Engineer for Welding & Materials Engineering with Stone & Webster, LLC. He also is the Welding Engineering Program Manager for Westinghouse Nuclear located in Rock Hill, SC supporting nuclear construction activities. Areas of responsibility include management of the corporate nuclear welding program, development of welding technology for large scale power plant construction including advanced welding systems for fabrication and installation, welding procedure development, technical support for supplier/vendor welding programs, and use of specialized thermal processing systems. Previously, Shane was with CB&I and the Shaw Power Group as the Chief Welding Engineer that included both nuclear and fossil plant construction. Prior experience at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) included research on welding and repair technology for power plants and corrosion control. He has authored industry reports on welding and materials technology for repair and life extension of power plants and holds patents in welding, materials, and laser optics. He is active in ASME Codes and AWS structural, pipe, and tubing welding codes & specifications. Currently, he is the Chair of D1.1 – TG2 Task Group on Qualifications, Chair of D10 for Pipe and Tube Welding, and a member of D1.1 for Structural Steel Welding and D1.6 for Structural Stainless Steels. Shane received a degree in Welding Engineering from Ohio State University (1978), is a registered Professional Engineer (Ohio), and an IIW International Welding Engineer.

Nina Choy is a registered Civil Engineer and is currently a Supervising Bridge Engineer for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). She has been a been involved with the AWS technical code committees for a number of years, and the current Vice Chair for the AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Committee. She has worked on several notable California bridge projects, including the new San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge and Gerald Desmond Bridge replacement, as well as various other bridge projects throughout the state. Prior to joining Caltrans, Nina served in the Air Force as a Civil Engineering Officer.

Richard Campbell is a Bechtel Fellow with Bechtel Corporation’s Construction Welding and NDE group. He is an AWS SCWI, a CWB Level 2 Welding Inspector, and an ASNT NDT Level III Visual Testing Inspector. With a BS degree in Welding Engineering from LeTourneau University and a PhD in Materials Engineering from RPI, he has worked for more than 40 years in the welding industry, including construction, structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, and government projects. For 9 years he was chair of the AWS D1K Subcommittee on Stainless Steel Welding, responsible for publication of the AWS D1.6:2017 Structural Welding Code – Stainless Steel. He is also a member of the AWS D1 Committee on Structural Welding, the D1H Subcommittee on Sheet Steel, the AWS A2 Committee on Definitions and Symbols, and the AWS A2C Subcommittee on Symbols. Rich is vice chair of the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code section committee, and member of numerous other ASME and AWS codes and standards committees, including Section IX’s subgroup on Qualification.
He has taught AWS CWI classes for over 25 years and has presented several seminars on welding codes, stainless steel welding, and welding symbols for AWS. Dr. Campbell is author of over 30 technical articles on welding or metallurgy. As an expert in stainless steel welding, he authored AWS’s The Professional’s Advisor on Welding of Stainless Steels, has penned several Just the Facts articles and a series of articles on welding symbols in the quarterly AWS publication Inspection Trends.

Joe Bailey is a Senior Weld Engineer at Vermeer Corporation located in Pella, Iowa. He holds a Bachelors of Engineering degree from LeTourneau University with concentrations in Materials Joining Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. He is also a professional engineer with the state of Iowa, AWS Certified Welding Inspector, and AWS Certified Welding Engineer. As an active AWS member, Joe has volunteered in multiple capacities in his local AWS section; is a current member of the AWS D14 Committee on Machinery and Equipment; has been a member of the Chapter 5 Committee on Design and Welded Connections; serves on the American Council of the International Institute of Welding; and has been a judge of the Iowa SkillsUSA competitions for numerous years.

David Landon is the Manager of Welding Engineering for Vermeer Corporation located in Pella, Iowa. He is a life member of the American Welding Society, Past (2015) President of AWS, and the 2020-2023 President of the International Institute of Welding. He has been a member of the AWS D14 Committee on Machinery and Equipment since 1993. He is a Certified Welding Supervisor, Senior Certified Welding Inspector, and is a member of the 2009 Class of Counselors for the American Welding Society. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering from LeTourneau University of Longview, Texas.
