Graduated from The Ohio State University in Welding Engineering and holds an International Welding Engineer diploma. A Professional Engineer in Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas plus Alberta, Canada. Life Member & Counselor – American Welding Society, Chair of AWS D10; Member on ISO/TC 44, Member on ASME Section IX – Welding and Brazing Qualifications, Former Chair of ASME SCII/IX Subgroup on Strength of Weldments, and member ASME SCII Working Group on Creep Strength-Enhanced Ferritic Steels. President of W. F. Newell & Associates, Inc., a firm that specializes in welding codes, application and processes; plus Co-Founder/Vice President – Engineering of Euroweld, Ltd. providing a variety of specialty welding consumables, training and consulting.

Michael`s background as a Senior Fellow in Self-Perform Construction and Welding, Global Director, Project Manager, Superintendent, Educator, AWS/CWI/CWE, and a 35+ year United Association member all give me solid ground-up experience.
His industry dedication is predicated with over 30 years of industry standards involvement in AWS D10 (Chairman), D18, and the AWS Technical Activities Committee (TAC). Also, involved with The Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG), and active in the ASME BPVC Committee Sections II, III, VIII, and IX.
Director of Technical Services
Charles W. “Pat” Patrick is currently contracted to Republic Testing Laboratories, LLC as a Director of Technical Services and is also the President / CEO of Howling Lobo Consultants, LLC. His diverse professional experience spans 59 years of welding engineering and consulting both domestically and internationally, providing services related to welding, materials , and nondestructive testing for numberous industries: power generation (nuclear, fossil, hydro), oil & gas (refinery, offshore, pipeline) shipbuilding (nuclear and conventical), papermill, food processing, pharmaceutical, and aerospace. Pat has authored and co-authored technical articles, white papers, book chapters, and presented numerous technical presentations. He holds an international Patent for “Improved Welding Process,” BS from Liberty University, and actively participates in AWS, ASME, NACE, and API committees.
